Tymon Shipp was born and raised in East St. Louis, Illinois when it was one of the most dangerous cities in America.

Crime and poverty took its toll on residents, including the Shipp family’s eight children.

Thanks to his family’s love and faith, he survived childhood and came to embody the old saying “Comedy is tragedy plus time.”

ACTING
Tymon has appeared in commercials, TV shows and films, and on stage in A Soldier’s Play and other productions. He also wrote and performed a one-man show about his childhood.
STAND-UP
Tymon has been making audiences laugh for 30+ years—just about as long has he’s worked with  L.A. County Probation. He’s performed at clubs, colleges and corporate events.
MEMOIR
My East St. Louis brings together all the stories he’s told onstage about crazy neighbors, government cheese and the many ways children learn to make the best of stressful situations.
SCRIPTS
After working in juvenile probation for 30+ years, Tymon knows how the system works—and how it fails. He tells all his script for Unit L/M, a crime drama that's The Wire meets The Mayor of Kingstown.
